Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions

Committees and Events

After School Enrichment 
Work with different programs to organize after school enrichment programs such as:  Spanish, Young Rembrandts, Yoga, Better Babysitters, Home Alone, etc.

Book Fair
Assist with set-up and sales. Proceeds allow teachers to purchase exciting, new books for their classrooms and help fund books for the school library.

Buddy Family/New Family Coordinator
Welcome a new family to Cardinal Pacelli and be a friendly resource as their questions arise. You're asked to contact your new family in the spring, check in before school starts, and be available through the first several months of the year to answer questions.

Career Day
The Chair coordinates volunteers to present real-life career and job information to our Junior High students. Help by presenting or helping the chair organize presenters.  

Catholic Schools Week Committee
A celebration of Catholic Schools within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The week begins with a special Mass Sunday, followed by a School Open House. Help plan and execute special activities during the week. 

Christmas Boutique
Help transform the Parish Center into a Christmas shopping extravaganza for students -- the Chair will need assistance with everything from shopping and crafting to setting up the space and tearing it down. Proceeds benefit, in part, St. Vincent DePaul.

Father/Daughter Dance
This event is a special opportunity for the girls to spend a memorable evening dancing the night away with their dads in the Pacelli gym. The committee works with the chair to help plan, set up, decorate, serve and clean up at this event.

Father/Son Event
This is a fun event for Fathers and Sons to enjoy together. Events change from year to year (last year's event was bowling). Chairs work with the committee to help plan, set up, take down and serve at this event.

Fashion Show

This is a fun-filled, entertaining night out complete with dinner, drinks and fashion.  Volunteers will help with invites, organizing the models, event decor, and more. 

Fine Arts Committee
This committee, in conjunction with the art and music teacher, promotes activities in the Fine Arts.  Events vary from year to year and may include student musicals, art fairs, photo contests, scheduling musicians for cafeteria, and assisting with the K-4 Christmas Program.

Grandparents Day
Assist with the Grandparents Day event in the fall - we are back to an in-person and the grandparents are loving it!

Grounds Committee
Committee assists with keeping our grounds beautiful, planting flowers, filling the pots, and assisting maintenance with on-going beautification efforts.

Health & Wellness Committee 
Volunteers would be involved in various wellness activities in and out of school as planned by the chairs.   

Junior High Dances
Faculty and parents chaperone holiday-themed dances for our Junior High students. Chairs work with a committee to coordinate planning, set-up, clean-up and scheduling of parent and teacher chaperones. 

Library Support
Volunteers assist with keeping our library organized.

​Magazine Sale
Volunteers assist with processing orders, record keeping, and prize distribution.  This fundraiser provides PTO with a large portion of its operating budget.  

Mother/Daughter Luncheon
Mothers and Daughters welcome spring with this enjoyable event at Hyde Park Country Club. Chairs and committee plan activities/crafts for the girls, desserts, and a special 8th grade tribute. 

Mother/Son Event 
This great event is for Mothers and Sons to enjoy together. Past events have included hockey, Baseball Hall of Fame, swim party, bowling, skiing/tubing. Chairs work with the committee to help plan, set up, take down and serve at this event.

Olympic Day
This is a long-standing, end-of-the-year tradition at Pacelli that students look forward to all year and remember always. Students compete in a small-scale Olympics on the playground. The Chairs and committee coordinate activities with the Physical Education teacher. The event includes a fun cookout. Parent volunteers facilitate the games and assist with the cookout.

School Supplies
Parents can place orders for a complete set of school supplies, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the PTO. 

Science Program
Volunteers help with set-up and presentation of the science program. This is a great event and the kids love it!  Requires a large number of volunteers.

Service Project Committee
Assist in student service projects throughout the year, including Fishes & Loaves, Coat Drive, Marjorie P. Lee Altar Server/Lector Program, Drop Inn Center Opportunity for 6th, 7th & 8th grades, among others. This committee works to support and strengthen current school and parish service projects.

Special Events (General)
Work with the Chairs to plan, decorate, set up, take down and serve at events not specifically listed above.

Spirit Wear

Volunteers help determine new spirit wear options and help organize and distribute orders. 

Uniform Exchange and Lost & Found 
Help organize gently-used uniforms donated by school families so they can be recycled for use by other families. Also manage the Lost & Found bin. Help return labeled items to students, reach out to parents to collect lost items, and donate unclaimed items quarterly. 

Other Opportunities

​Art Room Helper
Help the art teacher by photographing students' artwork and uploading it to Artsonia. Very flexible, sign up through the SignUp portal and coordinate date/time with Ms. Rogenski for as many times throughout the school year as fits your schedule!

Cafeteria/Playground Duty (Monthly)
Assist faculty members in supervising lunch, volunteers arrive at 10:50, shift ends at 12:15. Also available, assist faculty members in supervising recess from 11:00-12:30. Volunteers typically work one time per month (use the SignUp.com Portal).

Library Helper (Monthly)
Assist faculty members in supervising class library times, various shifts available. Volunteers typically work one time per month.

Mid-Week Treats (Once a Year per Volunteer)
An opportunity for parent volunteers to show their appreciation of the faculty and staff by bringing in snacks and/or baked goods on Wednesday morning. Chair coordinates the schedule for the year and sends out weekly email reminders. A large number of volunteers are needed.

Room Parents
Serve as the main source of communications between PTO, Teachers & Parents in your class. Responsibilities also include ensuring that sign-up slots are filled and special events are celebrated. The Room Parent Coordinator provides more details and reminders throughout the year.
